The author/photographer writes in the introduction for the reader:  "In this book I would have others enjoy with me those places or events I have discovered, enjoyed written about and photographed.  It has no aspirations of being intellectually insightful or pretensions of being morally uplifting.  It has much more modest goals but it does try to promote a view of finding pictorial insight and significance in quiet places and ways, often in overlooked or unique situations.  In doing so, it seeks to give the reader something quite different from the frenetically interconnected and overly hyped experiences many people experience today.

The photographs celebrate the special sense of contemplation and enjoyment of various places."
